Sterling Wells Nepal is the operational hub of a UK-based group of chartered certified accountancy firms and fintech companies, including UK Property Accountants, Sterling & Wells, Crane & Partners, FigsFlow, RentalBux, Taxule, and PropertySPV. We support thousands of clients across 50+ countries and oversee accounting for $8B+ in assets.
We are expanding our Siliguri office and opening our doors to motivated, detail-oriented individuals who are currently pursuing or have recently completed a BBA in Accounting or Finance. This is a trainee position — structured, supervised, and built for learning. If you are serious about building a career in professional accounting, this is where it starts.
What You’ll Do
- Task Execution Under Supervision: Complete assigned accounting tasks accurately and on time under the close guidance of senior team members — ensuring minimal errors and a consistent standard of work from day one.
- On-the-Job Training & Shadowing: Participate actively in firm-led learning programmes, internal technical sessions, and job-specific coaching. Shadow senior staff to understand how real client work is planned, executed, and delivered.
- Basic Accounting Functions: Perform foundational accounting tasks including data entry, document organisation, bank reconciliations, and ledger maintenance under close supervision from senior team members.
- Client Engagement Support: Support senior staff during client engagements by collecting data, organising documents, and assisting with preliminary analysis — gaining early exposure to how professional client relationships are managed.
- Research & Team Contribution: Contribute to team projects through research, basic analysis, and insights that support decision-making and process improvement.
- Log Maintenance & Accountability: Maintain a clear and accurate log of tasks completed, challenges encountered, and supervisor feedback received — building a personal record of development and accountability.
- SOP Adherence & Feedback Culture: Follow all applicable Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) diligently and actively seek feedback from supervisors to ensure continuous improvement in quality and compliance.
- Explore & Learn: Proactively build foundational knowledge of accounting processes, tools, software, and client expectations through self-initiative, curiosity, and structured learning within the team.
- Meetings & Reporting: Attend team meetings and training sessions punctually; provide updates on assigned tasks and flag any blockers or questions in a timely manner.
What We Need
- Currently pursuing a BBA in Accounting or Finance (final year students welcome) or a recent BBA graduate — fresh and eager to begin a professional accounting career.
- Genuine interest in accounting, taxation, and financial services — not just a qualification, but a real curiosity about how numbers tell a business story.
- Basic understanding of accounting principles — debits and credits, financial statements, and bookkeeping concepts covered through academic study.
- High attention to detail and a disciplined approach to accuracy — small errors matter in accounting, and you understand that.
- Willingness to learn, accept feedback, and apply it consistently — this role rewards coachability above all else.
- Good written and spoken English — able to communicate clearly within the team and, over time, with clients.
- Reliable, punctual, and professionally presented — the habits of a strong professional start from day one.
Nice to Have
- Basic familiarity with accounting software such as Tally, Xero, QuickBooks, or any cloud accounting platform — even introductory exposure is a plus.
- Prior internship or work experience in an accounting, finance, or professional services environment — even short-term or part-time.
- Awareness of UK accounting or tax practices through academic study or personal interest.
- Comfort with Microsoft Excel for basic data organisation, formulas, and reconciliation tasks.
- Aspiration to pursue a professional qualification such as ACCA, CA, or CPA — we actively support members of the team who want to pursue further credentials.
What Makes This Role Different
- This is a structured traineeship — not an ad hoc internship. You will follow a clear learning path with supervision, feedback, and measurable milestones.
- You will work within an internationally connected firm serving UK-based clients, giving you exposure to professional standards that go well beyond a typical entry-level role in the region.
- From day one, you will be working on real tasks — not filing and making tea. The work is supervised, but it is real.
- Strong performers will have a clear pathway into a permanent role within the team, with support for professional qualification if desired.
- You will be part of a team that takes learning seriously — with access to Sterling Wells Academy, internal training sessions, and mentorship from experienced professionals.
What We Offer
- Structured traineeship with a defined learning and development plan.
- Exposure to UK-standard professional accounting and tax practice from an early stage of your career.
- Access to Sterling Wells Academy and internal training programmes.
- Mentorship from qualified accounting professionals with UK and international experience.

- Support for those pursuing ACCA or other professional qualifications.
- Five-day working week, with Saturday and Sunday off.
